Been meaning to do this for a long time but I'm not very computer savy. Here's what my car looks like, it's rough and in need but I love it.

Here's the floor, I wire brushed it sometime back and sprayed it with rustolium to keep it from getting any worse.

Those floors have the typical rot in that area. Floor looks pretty solid though, and rustoleum primer on rusty or cleaned up up metal is an excellent first primer.

Love the car, it is decently straight and will be looking good in no time, she looks good now, but will get better as the work progresses.........Fred

Thanks, I've wanted this car since I was 15 when I first saw it. I never thought I'd wind up with it due to the circumstances with the previous owner. He had 4 boys and I was his son inlaw. I always thought he would give it to one of them. I bought it shortly after his daughter and I divorced. I got it and a running driving parts car for $800.

On rust spots, I usually cut out and weld a patch panel. I spay a rust converter before using any tpye of primer or paint. I bought a gallon of rust converter at Advance Auto Store. Can not remember cost. I put some in a small spray bottle. Results have been pretty good at keeping away return of minor rust. Flatie 46, do you need a window for the door on your car? Bob.

Thanks guys, I haven't made much progress here lately. They've been getting there moneys worth outta me at work and here at home we've had some things I've had to put in front of my car. The fires burning in me though to get it done. I'm in the middle of the T-5 conversion, I could have just put the 3 speed back in and been driving it. But I thought this would suit my needs well so gonna keep at it.

Joe, you've been an inspiration to me. Every week I see you making progress and you have no fear at tackling any job. I've got a good friend thats working on a 58 Desoto. Between you two guys I've been motivated to keep pluggin along.

Robert, I do plan on cutting out the bad spots and welding new in. I knew it would be a while before I got to the rusted areas and I didn't want them to get any worse, so I cleaned em up and used the rustolium to buy me some time. I bought some rust converter, it may be the same stuff but haven't tryed it on the body. I did soak my thermostat housing in it and it was amazing. I think that stuff would eat the nuts off a brass monkey! Yea I need a window, haven't seen one in any junk cars yet. I may have one made. I keep it under a cover, my basement is too full but I've been weeding stuff out too get it in. Thanks again to all for the words of encouragement.

You may not be a computer genius, but the photos look fine to me. And, it looks pretty darn solid. My first New Yorker coupe's floor looked like it had been used in a flintstones movie. The one I am driving now is not much better, especially under the doors, and in the trunk floor.

You are starting with good stock. Will be a fun project.

I have a couple of Plymouth or Dodge doors, and I believe they have glass. I saved parts from a car a guy was sending to the crusher, about 20 years ago. I do not know what year the doors are. I will post photos later.
