John Burke Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 I know this is a little off topic but, I am in desperate need of an 8" ford rear end pumkin with 3.55 gears. I have 3.00 now and when I wind out and it shifts to 3rd it bogs down a bit so i need to go a bit deeper. The engine will pull better with these gears. I know we are mostly Mopar but some of you guys run across other stuff somtimes....Thanxz for any help and a free ride in the hot rod if you show up at my door....in the summer time....John Burke Quote
martybose Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Sounds like what you really need is one of those higher second gears that I've heard about a few times; I gather George Ashe usually has them available? Marty Quote
1just4don Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 John, I would be 'glad' to help. Any ideas what make, models and years that might work for this??? I just cleaned out alot of 'junk' not long ago and may well have thrown one away. I do have access to a bit of junk here and there so some direction to look would be helpful. AND coincidently my new grandson to be born in YOUR area is "due" tommorrow!! Babies come when they get darn good and ready tho. IF I had one,,,sounds like a 'fair' trade for a nice ride any day!!! ANY info appreciated??? Help me help you??? Quote
John Burke Posted February 16, 2007 Author Report Posted February 16, 2007 My rear end came out of a 63 Fairlane. A lot of the earlier "small fords had them...Mavericks, Comets (I think) earlier Mustang 2's. The pinion and ring gear assembly come out the front of the case as a unit and have an 8" ring gear...Hope this helps out....John Quote

However, the hot rod has a 350 turbo automatic trans. John Quote
