JerseyHarold Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 You may also want to jack-up the left rear corner of the car to help the gas get to the engine. Quote
James_Douglas Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 My Engine Start List: 1.Make sure you put a lot of cam lube on the cam lobes before you start. 2. Make sure timing is dead on TDC. 3. Prime all fuel pumps and carb...have can of starting fluid for first start. 4. Fire engine and bring to 2000 RPM. NO IDLING 5. Vary Engine speed between 1500-2000 RPM for 20 Minutes. 6. Shut down and drain oil. Celebrate. ********* You need the RPM to get the lifters to spin so as not to kill the cam lobes. At idle this does not happen. The high RPM puts out enough pressure behind the rings to force them into the cylinder walls and help the rings to seat properly. Good Luck, James Quote
