HanksB3B Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 Does anyone have, or know where I can get the original oil cap ? (Like the one shown here, from whoever did such a great job restoring his found the pictures on an external site and before I could bookmark it my computer froze up. So if anyone knows where this picture came from, please let me know). Thanks, Hank Quote
bkahler Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Hank, I've never been able to find an original sized oil filler cap. All of the aftermarket/repros that I've found are smaller in diameter. Better than nothing but it would be nice to have a larger one like the factory used. I've seen that picture here on the forum at some point. Brad Quote
HanksB3B Posted January 26, 2010 Author Report Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) Thanks, but somehow that doesn't look like the right one. It's not quite as radiused on the top edge, and the original doesn't have the bottom skirt that the Ebay one does. So...still looking anyone? Hank Edited January 26, 2010 by HanksB3B Quote
lugnut123 Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Which type oil cap do you have? Myb3c has a cap that's 3 1/2 inchs across with a 1 1/2 inch tube comeing up from the moter. It has a lip around the bottom edge where it has been press together. My 43 model army moter has a cap that's 2 3/4 inchs across and a 1 1/2 inch tube and not as tall as the b3c. My daughters b1b has a fitting in the 1 1/2 tube that diverts the blowby to an electric fan. It sucks the blowby out of the crankcase and through a steelmesh filter. . Quote
HanksB3B Posted January 27, 2010 Author Report Posted January 27, 2010 If you look at the picture in the first post on this thread...that's it. Hope you find one.. Thanks, Hank Quote
JJs 1948 Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Hank, Do you still need an oil cap? I have an extra for you no charge. Let me know, Jeff Quote
HanksB3B Posted February 2, 2010 Author Report Posted February 2, 2010 That would be great and much appreciated. I'll PM you. Thanks, Hank Quote
HanksB3B Posted February 14, 2010 Author Report Posted February 14, 2010 Got it today and it looks like a perfect candidate for restoration. I really appreciate it. I'll keep you posted on the progress, I'm thinking powder coat, but may do it myself not sure yet. Will PM you as well but I'm getting tired, it's been a long day. Thanks, Hank Quote
lugnut123 Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 let me know if that cap don't work. i finally made it to the farm and got an oil cap. Quote
HanksB3B Posted February 15, 2010 Author Report Posted February 15, 2010 I guess Jeff didn't have to travel far and was kind enough to ship one out to me. I appreciate your going down to the farm and can only hope that was not the only reason you went. There are a few things I still would like and if you have extras or if they are coming off a truck you know is not going to be used again I'd certainly appreciate them: 1. Cover of a Voltage Regulator that has the raised letters "Field", "Arm", and "Bat". 2. A horn ring 3. A model 610T Radio (I and about a million other people want that) I feel a little guilty, but it's just that everyone on the forum has been so helpful. My Best Regards and Thanks, Hank Quote
