I took the car for about an hour run. The temps were ranging from 375 to about 550 degrees. The intake was 175 to 220 degrees. The engine was still running while I checked them. Did you open the rad cap, and get reading of the coolant and at your sender area too, if so what temp does yours run at in summer weather.......Fred Quote

I spoke with a fellow Flathead lover up here, he cannot keep his engine running cool in summer, not sure why as he as done everything possible to alleviate that kinda of thing. On hot summer days my temp gaugue will read 180 or so, with the temp in the rad about 170......PS i have seen my temp gauge rise close to 200 on a hard run in the summer heat especially going down wind, as it does not allow the air to flow through my rad which is about 12 inches inside the hood are behind the grill on a 47 Chrysler. I used to think that mine ran hot also, until I went to recalibrate it and found that it read almost 30 degrees hotter than the actual temp. He might want to carry a meat thermometer and stick it in the radiator top tank to see what he finds the next time he thinks it is too hot. (I'm assuming it's still a non-pressurised cooling system, so that you can take off the cap while the engine is running) Marty Quote

I metnioned to him, it may not be , but will still run good, perhaps he has issues with his vaccum advance on the dizzy. I did not ask him about his heatriser, I still believe a stuck heatriser in the wrong posiiton, can exacerbate heat issues on warm days...............Fred PS I sent him this link, hopefully he joins us and finds the answers Quote
