Some of you know about my machinist his name is Roy Chambers. He owns "Cams by Chambers" He machined my Studebaker 289 and my heads on various othe cars I won. I am trying to upgrade my street rod so I had a "Weian" intake in my closet. I took it over to Roy and he hot tanked it then he bead blasted it then hot tanked it again. He also put a Heli coil in one of the water inlet holes. While he was doing all this his son asked me to help him clean up one of the machines. I ended up cleaning the floor and a couple of the machines they use for milling blocks and heads. I spent the day with Roy listening to all his stories and odering the right parts for my street rod.

I know Joe is mad because he would have enjoyed it more then I. When I got finished I asked Roy how much I owed him and he said that he owed me money for all the work I did.:) I had such a great time. Hey Joe, you know I think he kinda missed me:o When it was time to leave he would not let me go. Did you know he had the first dragster powered by a Jaguar motor it set all kinds of records. Then thye eliminated the class they raced in. He also had fuel injection before the big three.

That's really nice, Rodney. All I can say is you must have gotten to the old man some kind of way because when I was there he was the meanest old SOB I've met in a long time. Are we gonna go to Leon's? It's going to be cold this weekend. I have to call Jim Y., too and see what he's doing. I need to find a Bendix drive, carb linkage clips, a plug for the oil galley, and see how a few things under the hood go together because I lost track since I took everything apart.

Yes This is why I have been getting my little ducks in a row. Please call Jim Y. I need some rest and the best way to do this is a road trip.:)I love a road trip

Then head on down to Tennessee. I have my broom handle all warmed up for you and my filthy shop needs the Rodney treatment:D

I have been talking about this guy Roy for some time on the forum. Alot of you guy's have knowlege of motors and how they work however I only recently learned some very basic and valuble lessons when it comes to my car.Roy Chambers has been racing since the 1960's. He was a record holder racing a dragster that was powered by a Jaguar motor. He knows alot of tricks of the trade. When I first joined this forum I was very very green. I owned cars however I worked all the time and did not know alot about them.

As life slowed me down I got a chance to do more with my hobby, I would ask questions of you all over and over again. It was sicking. I felt very dumb. Then I was ready to give up, quit. I never had so many people Pm me and post that I should hang in there. it was a post from someone that evenually I would meet in person years later. This guy was always willing to go the extra mile. Yes after I would "get it right" he would give me a hard time. I dug it. What the forum did was start me out with the training wheels, then they took them off and gave me a push. Guess what, I did not fall and now I can problem solve myself most of the time:) each year we learn a little more until one day we ourselves become the master. Don't cheat yourself out of the great revelation that is discovery:rolleyes: just a thought not a sermon.
