Dodgeb4ya Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 any others on here? didnt they produce 75,000 of them? Did they all break down or die? are they that bad of a transmission? The transmission itself wasn't the problem it was the torque converter section that usually failed-loss of power on acceleration ect or leaking at the converter and O-ring seals, same as the Fluid Torque drive Chryslers. p24-1953 Posted November 15, 2009 Author Report Posted November 15, 2009 could the seals be replaced? that might explain the constant oil puddle located under my car. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 You have to pull the trans, pull the torque converter and clutch assembly-pull the clutch cover and disc 1st off the driven plate then the toerque converter. Support the rear of the engine so you can remove the Torque Converter housing (it supports the rear of the engine) and then the adapter plate. There are O-ring seals between the adapter plate and engine block and the adapter plate to the torque converter housing too. Other seals are the; reation shaft seal and turbine shaft seals- all should be able to be located, You should use both the MoPar parts and service manual to guide you. You will need to get the OE #'s out of the MoPar parts book so they can be cross referenced into a new modern part number. A really good parts guy will be able to help locate the seals. Bob Quote
