Lou Earle Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 1- When your listing things for sale or things you need etc-- Please list where you are located- it helps a lot- then we/I will know if feasable to inquire further. 2If you are asking for advice and or help knowing where you are located is a big help. I one case I actually live 50 miles away and did not know it- his name Tim Adams!!!!! Has become a great friend-He even built a room for me upstairs in his house!!!!! Quote

Hi Lou, have to agree, on these 2 points. But as you and I both know know very wellin life, people do as people do, some of these types this will go right over there heads, so no sense in fretting over them too much. Hey Tim I hope did not give you the master suite....LOL, the attic with a cot, saw this on a BMW commercial, young Guy is staying with Girlfirend's folks, Dad likes car, and gives the "Master Suite " to new Beau, hope it's air conditoned........Fred Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 I don't think it's a matter of people not wanting to give a general location, when they make some kind of post in those sections. I think it's just a matter of them not thinking to do so. Quote
Lou Earle Posted October 11, 2009 Author Report Posted October 11, 2009 Norm I agree I just want to know why everyone does not do what I want them to do!!!! Quote
oldmopar Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 The for sale part I agree with a 100% and not just here but on many other forums. The ideal thing would for moderators to make it mandatory to post a location after all most forums are giving you are free ad so that is not too much to ask. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 So Lou, you actually have your own room at Tim's? Do you have to let him know before you come over or is it like your own secret hideout? You know who's got a great secret hideout? Rodney B. I wish he'd post pictures. It's the ultimate clubhouse: bed, TV, car parts, stereo. Everything you need. Plus a basement exit in case you need to get out fast. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 I guess some folks think giving their location is too much info to place on the internet. Or they just do not realize the helpful value of including that info in their subject or signature lines. One doesn't have to post their exact address, just city and state or area. For example, I might well drive to Springfield, MO (an hour from here) to look at a large or heavy item that's not handy to ship. But would not be so practical if it was in Milwaukee. Would be good to know "where" before I get too excieted about the item. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 Bob, or anyone else in sales will understand what I'm about to say. Even those who have not been involved in sales as a profession may understand the point I'm about to make too. Some will agree, and some will not, but........ In sales we've always been taught to be positive when selling a product, not negative. So........with that in mind. If someone was to post something for sale and said it was in California, that could be a negative for someone living in New York due to shipping charges, etc. So.......right away, that's negative selling to the person in New York because of the shipping cost, etc. Of course, for the people in California, it's a positive selling point. So........by leaving out the location, the seller gets everyone excited about the possibility of buying that part. And, who knows, he might even get that buyer to purchase the part after talking privately with him about it. But........if he had put the location in the original post, that buyer may not have even contacted him. So........therefore, he increases his responses greatly and the chance to sell the item by not posting the location. Now, the seller who prejudges his possible buyer will also sell less. If he was to prejudge and say: "I better post the location now, because the guys living far away won't buy". That's prejudging and cutting all those other possible buyers out of the picture. Selling anything is a numbers game in the end. The more people you get interested in the item, the more sales you'll make. The salesperson who uses negative selling, or prejudges will not sell near as much as the person who does not. So.........that may also be why some don't post the location of the item right away. He's being positive and not prejudging. (End of Sales class 101) Quote
