51 Fargo
Hi Gang Has anyone out there bought a cowl vent rubber for there pilot house from Roberts parts and found out it is to small? I bought 2 one for my truck and one for my Dads and the rubber is to small for the vent. Are there 2 sizes of cowl vents?
Dennis_MN
I bought mine from Roberts and yes it just didn't lay there, it had to be stretched. So I had to take the cowl vent off, then add glue to the metal, then stretch the gasket in place and hold in down with wooden snap cloths pins. Taking that vent off reminded my of my lost youth. I no longer fit between the seat and the shift lever, and my dang bifocals wouldn't let me focus on the two nuts above my head under the dash. That was not easy but I did get the job done. The gasket works fine, no leaks
Jim Gaspard
Type in "cowl vent" or "cowl vent rubber" in the above SEARCH mode, and then read some of the strings posted by the PilotHouse truck side. You will see there has been quite a bit of discussion and 'cussin on the cowl rubber subject for some time.
Guest P15-D24
It fits, Robert's is the wrong size.
grey beard
Got one from Roberts - could NOT get it to stay in place, no matter how I clamped it. Messed up my fresh paint trying to make it fit. Finally took someone's advice here on the forum and got some from VPW. Comes in one length you cut to fit, with the splice at the rear. Just lay it in the glue and close the vent till it is dry. Never look back. Even keeps water out.
randygall
I was able to use two seals, cutting then to match the opening and glueing them together,,,worked great for me..mine came fro Roberts also.
