Yesterday was a fun day. I got to get my Ol' Dodge out for a cruise, but that was only the beginning. The cruise was down to see Brad Schmidt down in Fox Lake, IL. I had a spare vent window assembly that he needed, but that was just an excuse to drive down for a visit. While there he was showing me some other spare parts that he had accumulated, including a hub cap that matched my truck. Since it was of no use for his 1 1/2 ton truck I ended up trading him the vent window for his hub cap. Now I have a good spare that seems to be in better shape than a couple that I have now.

We then took a cruise around town in my truck. I think I even got an offer from a guy to trade for his modern Dodge truck. We chuckled and kept driving. The Fluid Drive comes in handy when puttering around town. Just leave it in 3rd (out of 4) and drive it like a poor mans automatic. I did, however, experience some clutch slippage on a couple of steep hill pulls. I guess I'll have to look into that.

Next on the adjenda was a ride around the Chain-of-Lakes on their boat. It was a bit cool, without a sweatshirt, but otherwise a very nice day out on the lakes. When we got back they invited me to stay for supper. Steak and taters on the grill... how could I turn that down. :D

After a satisfying supper, and a couple of barley pops, I finally had to say "Good By" and point the Ol' Dodge back north. By the time I got back home, parked the Dodge, jumped in my daily pickup, and ran over to my girlfriend's house, it was around 9:00 and I was a bit tired. I thought about jumping on the DEPTCA chat, but I really just wanted to go to bed at that point.

Like I said, it was a fun day. Brad and Lisa were great hosts. It's always fun to get out and drive the Ol' Dodge. I know Brad had fun on our little cruise around town. Soon he'll have his out on the roads too.

Thanks Brad and Lisa. Maybe next time we can hook up with Jeremie in Antioch too.

Hi Merle;

You are alway welcome! We had fun too!

Been a long time since I heard those spur gears sing. What a flashback. I thought we were going to have to lock the doors when that guy ran out to look at your truck. I thought he might try to commandeer the vehicle!

Definitely have to get together again.

Brad
