clifford Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 my truck is a 1951. i have a chance to pick up a 1949 for parts, can someone tell me, are they basically the same? thanks, clifford Quote
1949d100 Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 I have a 49 that I bought a little while ago. from what I have read the running gear is the same until 53, but the dash and front grill changed in 50 i believe. Quote
Charles Furman Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Between 1949 (B1) model and 1950 (B2) model years they moved the emergency brake level from the floor to under the dashboard and they moved the gear shift from the floor to the steering column. Quote
MBF Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Cliff-the doors are differnt, but will fit. The nose piece and grill are different, and the dashes are different and wiper tractor placement is different. It'd still be a good source for parts. My '52 is actually a 49 that someone long ago installed a '52 nose on-and I like it just the way it is. Mike Quote

grey beard Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Clifford, It surely to goodness would make a good parts truck for you other than the things already listred on this thread. All the fasteners and many of the small bits and pieces are similar. I've wished many times while I worked on my own beastie that I had a parts truck. Several times I went with hat in hand to my son in Montana, who has FIVE nice B model Dodge trucks of much larger size than my own, but many parts interchange on the cag, etc. Quote
