Tire size 53 B4B

I am new as an owner of one of these machines. I found one in excellent condition this summer. It came with the original 16" rims for it in the bed of the truck. The owner had a set of tires with 15" rims on it when I bought it. I am having trouble finding a clear statement in the manuals of what size tire was intended for these trucks or was the entire idea for there to be a range of tires with no particular size the "right" size.

Welcome! I had a similar conumdrum recently, also being a new PH owner. That thread may be of use to you, as it has been to me.

The truck came with 700-16 and they crossed to 215/85R16. Other guys here apparently roll with those tires as well.

The original size on a 1/2 ton is 6.00 x 16 inch

The 3/4 Ton used 15 inch wheels which apparently increased the torque just by using a smaller tire size with everything else being equal.

Those 16 inch wheels are worth their weight in gold as I'm on my way to sinking $100 just to restore one.

1. used wheel from French Lake Salvage = $35

2. Paint to match other wheels =$30

3. 1st sand blasting estimate $60

I choked at the sandblasting and will find another estimate tomorrow or I will use a wire wheel and clean it up my self and save a few bucks.

I did have a tire shop switch tires on my spare tire rim and swapped wheels for $30. So you can see wheels aren't cheap.

Maybe I should send over to the US. I`v got 16 of the things laying around here. Can`t even give them away.
