Phil,

That's exactly what I'm doing. I read about it on another site. I hung a 5-gallon bucket from a hook and will load it with ice and water and have the hose coiled up inside it. I drilled a hole in the bottom for the hose to come out. From there it goes to a trap. I have a dessicant filter just before the gun, so hopefully I'll be OK. The one problem though is that I can't get that hole in the bottom of the bucket to seal up. It was suggested to caulk around the hose. I used silicone but it doesn't seem to want to stick. I sanded the bottom of the bucket and wiped it down with lacquer thinnner and tried again. We'll see if it adheres to the plastic this time. If not, well, I'll just have a leaky bucket.

Last summer I dug a stump out of my yard by hand and it just about killed me. Boy, was that a reminder of how young I'm not.

Sounds like a good plan Joe, I have the same compressor, only used a water trap type filter, and and in-line filter before the spraygun, never had an issue, these compressors seem to not put a whole lot of moisture in the line, and there won't be oil as there oilless.

I have shot just about all my primer with no filters or water traps whatsoever, but used them for paint, lucky for me, never a moisture issue, on those occasions.

I always drain my tank, after use, and drain periodically while in use, as well as the filters.....Fred

That's good to know, Fred. I almost went ahead and sprayed without the bucket and water thing but I figure it's pretty easy to set up, so why not. The more you read about this stuff and all the possibilities for contaminants, the more paranoid you get. Sometimes I think it's best to just go ahead and do it. Never got a chance to paint today, by the way. Still more prep, taping off, setting up the gun, then the normal afternoon torrential thunderstorm, which is coming down right now.

Hey Joe, You doing your thing. I guess with the wife out of town you are painting in the kitchen:) I am so jealous. I took the T- Bird to a high school friend of mine to have it touched up. It is so hot I wonder if the paint dries before it hits the fender. I am going to Carlise about Thirsday because I need a front fender for the truck. It's trucks at Carlisle this week. My wife went out of the state last week. Man I just got my vision back:cool: When the grown ups away.....:rolleyes:everything is back to ....normal.
