Hey guys,

I am putting a 318 and a 5 speed in my 49 1/2 ton. Don't need the flathead or the 3 speed. it is a 25" motor. no clue what I should ask for it. Can you give me an idea?

A little more info would be helpful if you are really seeking an answer. Does it run? Have you checked the compression or done any other cheching into the quality of what you have to sell? Have you driven it? Is the transmission sound - shift up and down okay? Whatcha' got there?

Last of all, where is all this stuff? How far would a perspective buyer need to go for it/ship it if they wanted it? A good running engine with decent oil pressure at hot idle has some value, as does an operational transmission.

Unknown quality engines and trannys make good boat anchors and rebuildable cores - not much value to anyone, cause they're a dime a dozen.

Tell us what you have and where it is. You'll get some nibbles.

I had a fellow ask the same question at Mopars in the Park. He was the guy who put a Supercharger on a V8 in a Pilothouse. Merle had pictures of it. I just told him that he would be amazed at how many folks replaced their running gear in trucks.

I havent done any any testing on it. it drives fine. I have a 12 Alt on it right now but still have the original (or what came off of it) 6v gen as well. The tranny shifted great no problems with it. I am in Vancouver Canada. I don't have a compression tester but will pick one up and test it if needed.
