1948 dodge fink cigar car Posted May 10, 2009 Report Share Posted May 10, 2009 i cant get my hood to stop rubbing in the cowl and chiping the paint. i just repainted the car and i dont want to chip any paint . i have the butterfly hood and it hit's the cowl when i close it. i tried to move it foward as far as i could but it still hits. is there any tricks to it. mabe some washers someplace. pls help me i dont want to damage my new paint. 1949P17BC Posted May 11, 2009 Report Share Posted May 11, 2009 Several adjustments 1. Do you have the cowl lacing in place 2. Does the hood latch and relaes smoothly (if this is ok then) 3. Center brace, move it up pusheing the hood up and away from the cowl 4. The hood hinges has some adjust in them, loosen and push up 5. knighthawk Posted May 11, 2009 Report Share Posted May 11, 2009 move the top of the core support forward ( supports the rad ), just loosen the fender and inner fender mounts in the sides of the core support, pull the support and top of the rad forward (along with the hood ), if that won't work lower the core support by removing a pad or shim from the bottom mount.
