Don St Peter Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Cardinal rule violation, in that I did not note how it came off! I have a 40 Ply and request that someone tell me if the brake master cyl. mounts on the "inboard" or "outboard" side of the frame mounting. I can't remember and it appears it could be installed wrong causing misalingment. Since it's not that easy to change once installed improperly, I need to be safe & not sorry. Thanks in Advance Don Quote
Jim Yergin Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Don, On my '41 P12, the M/C is mounted on the inboard side of the frame bracket. Jim Yergin Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Inboard side of my 49. Seems like that's the only way I've seen them mounted. Quote
speedyshark Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 On my 47 dodge it is also inboard. Quote
RobertKB Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 When did Chrysler change to the style we find on the P15's? My '38 Chrylser has a totally different master cylinder than my '48 Dodge. I am not sure what the 1940 Plymouths had but if different than the later models it mounts like the one on my '38 which is way different for mounting also. Just a thought? Quote
Jim Yergin Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 I think it was in '42 that the M/C was moved to under the floor and behind the pedal. In '41 it was still in front of the pedal and reached from under the hood. Jim Yergin Quote
Don St Peter Posted March 15, 2009 Author Report Posted March 15, 2009 Thanks for the info. Inboard mounting it is. Don Quote
