pflaming Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I did some very basic calculations and figure a 1/2 BIB would haul about 50+ bushels of wheat @ 60 #'s per bushel. I think corn is lighter per bushel. That seems about right. A wheat harvester's bin held about the same so the matches and a horse drawn wagon also about the same. 60 bushels then is 3,000 #'s. Grain evenly distributes the load so a BIB should handle that quite well. The same weight an animal or an item will haul much differently. Would be interesting to hear other's experiences in hauling grain. I hauled alot of it when I was in high school but in a 11/2 ton 47 Ford and a 2 ton 38 IH. We preferred the old International, more power. A lot of corn was hauled in small trucks in the mid-west. Quote
