BobT-47P15 Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Pete (blueskies) made the trip from Idaho to Tulsa in good form. He did collect a few bugs on the front along the way. As part of their July 4th doings last summer, there was a car show on Military Ave in Baxter Springs, KS......which is Rt 66. They gave our car the "Marvelous Mopar" award. Quote

Was a thriving mining town in the 1850's, now a renound hub of nordic skiing. This pic was taken a couple of miles from the the old townsite, atop Galena Summit, elevation 8701. Pete Quote
Frank Elder Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Galena.. Maryland Ohio Galena is a primary mineral, lead sulfide. Most of these towns are or were associated with mining. The Kansas location had a big lead mine. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Hounddog......before you come to Galena or Joplin, send me a P M a few days in advance and we can try to get together. My wife's high school class had a "mini reunion" in OKC last summer. Stayed right close to Bricktown.....have some neat places there. Sat in and played harmonica on a couple blues tunes with the band at the "Biting Sow" club---owned by a retired dentist who fronts the band. Bob Toft Quote
Hounddog Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 Yea OKC isnt that bad for a Big City as we called it growing up in Galena. Lots to do but also short drive to the middle of nowhere. Quote
