Norm's Coupe Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Ed, The bank was not disputing the problem I had. The police had called them prior to calling me to get my telephone number after they caught the girl using the number. So........there was no real dispute. It just took that long and about 3 trips to sign various forms for the bank to get the money back. This took place about 1995. Don, there is an old saying. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me". So.........I don't intend on the same thing happening twice, so that's why I will not use a debit card, or ATM card. I also refuse to use the internet for our accounts. My bank doesn't even know our email address or cell phone numbers. They don't need them as far as I'm concerned and I've told them that. They can call me at home if they need to, on a land line. Or, send me a letter. By the way guys. Just read an article in this mornings newspaper. Guess there is a scam going around with email, text messages and telephone calls. They all say the same thing. Goes like this: "Due to unusual activity your credit card/debit card has been closed off until you call to verify your account." Then they give you a phone number to call to verify your information. DON'T USE THAT NUMBER. Call the number that is on your card or on your monthly statement, or your bank, not the number given in the email or text. If it's a caller calling you, tell them you'll call back, then again don't use the number they give you. Only the number on your statement or card. The banks have been trying to trace the phone numbers. They have shut some of them down. However, the people running the scam are using a lot of different phone numbers and they haven't got them all because of that. Quote
Don Coatney Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 checque. Captian Neon; Is a check the same thing as a checque? With your political asperations I would think you would talk English:D What is a bancque or what the hell ever you call it? If you want to ever get elected to a political position in this country speak and write English if you ever want my vote...... Quote
Captain Neon Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Don, I gave up an interest in ever running for office again in November 2006. I could go on and on about the whole process, but let's just say that very few people keep their promises any more. I like what you are implying since you and I live in totally different States (even if they do border each other) , but it would have to take something pretty extraordinary to get me to ever vote again much less run for office. BTW, it IS English spelling, just not American spelling. I could go on and on about that too, but while I realise you are giving me some good-natured ribbing others would be offended and get uptight about the conversation that would ensue. Maybe even put me back on their ignore list Quote
