DanOlson Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 So in the attached picture where it says, before/after 113721560, it's refering to the vehicle number on the tag? In my case it's: 83393593. Dan Quote
townwagon Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 All the US and Canadian built 1948-53 Dodge Trucks I have seen have a Serial Number that starts with 8 or 9. The first year for a Serial Number that starts with 1 is 1960, and then you could only get things like a 118, 116, 126, 158, for the first three digits, there was no 113. Eric Quote
Jim Gaspard Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 I believe the 9 digit number starting with 113 refers to the engine number which sequences to the casting order and date. The 883xxxxx eight-digit number refers to the vehicle number which today we associate as the VIN (stamped on frame), and the earlie posted table provides sequencing for either a Detroit or California (or Canadian) assembly.
