tinlizzy Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Okay guys, I have a small problem. I am dealing with a stuck engine and it have been over two weeks and doesn't look like it will break loose so I decided to pull the engine apart and go from there. When I started taking the intake/exhaust manifold off everything went fine until I tried to remove the two deep set nuts on the exhaust header. These are rounded off and I can get a socket to bite. Any suggestions on how to get these two remaining nuts loose? It looks like I could seperate the intake from the exhaust and this would expose these two nuts to get a better shot at them but I would also take a chance on breaking the 4 bolts that connect the two pieces. Is there a better way to get at these two buggers? The nuts I have removed appear to be brass and that seemed a bit strange but this will be my first dodge engine tear down so all is new to me. Any help will be appreciated. Lee Quote
Merle Coggins Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 There are tools available for removing rounded nuts. They look like a socket, but the inside has a helical flute like the inverse of an "easy out". I have a set of these and they are great for nuts that are rounded. Merle Quote
