Don Jordan Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 You guys are the mighty gurus... I am but the lowly grasshopper. When written out this sounds stupid but I bought a throttle cable on the bay because it had a stock knob. Hard to believe. My car (47 P15) had a throttle cable with a chewed up knob. Here's the problem: It wasn't hooked to anything. So when I put the new one in I can't tell where it goes. There is a nut on the linkage where it makes the 90 degree turn to the carb - but I'm not sure if that's the correct place. I've looked all over and can't find a place that would work. The choke I got in. Thanks guys d- Quote
steveplym Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 In the above pic you can see the cable on the rear drivers side of the engine. It goes to a bracket that bolts on the left rear of the head. The cable shield is held on with a clamp just like the choke cable. Then the cable is connected onto the accelerator linkage. When you pull out the cable the throttle linkage is pulled back and accelerates the engine. If you don't have a bracket like that let me know as I may have an extra. Not sure, but will check if needed. Quote
steveplym Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Here's some more pics Don. On mine the bracket that holds the cable bolts up behind the rear bracket of the oil filter. It goes on to the stud on the side of the head. I also have a picture of where it hooks to the throttle. Quote
Don Jordan Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 It looks like it should be able to be made... is it in the parts book? Quote
steveplym Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 I just checked the parts book on Chet's site and it is in the book. Part # 14-26-1. Named as Throttle control wire tube bracket. Follow this link. http://chetscoins.com/1948p15/DocumentWeb/Parts_Reference/3/215.pdf Quote
