After many responses and tips I decided to grab my service manual and find out how to adjust the linkage. Within a whole 3 minutes all my problems have been solved.

All this time I have been so frustrated and have not enjoyed driving my car. I never would have thought a simple adjustment would cure my problem.

So I have to say a true from-the-heart thank you to all who responded. This is a wonderful board full of great, helpful and generous people!

Thanks again. Now it's time to go for a burn and rack up all the miles I have missed out on!!
