martybose Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 ... when you stop putting on your new heater hoses to hand polish the stainless steel hose clamps. Which I did last night! Good progress being made, my newly spiffed up engine should be in running condition by tonight. I'll post a photo when I'm done. Marty Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Don't feel bad, Marty. I've polished some of my hose clamps also. Gives a little more shiney to the engine compartment. Have also polished the band that holds the coil in place, and those clamps on wiring coming thru the firewall. Good ol Mother's Mag Wheel Polish. Along with a little elbow grease. Cause you gotta go over those things several times to get the shine. Like making chrome out of a non chrome item. Oh yeah, polished my metal gas line and vacuum line. Wrapped chrome tape around the bracket holding the coil. Do you have the chrome acorn nut covers on the head bolts? Quote
boxer_inv Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 Bob Great pic of your engine bay. I spent some time just gazing into the engine bay of my 47 Dodge today, after doing a spot of exterior polishing. The engine bay in my only recently acquired car is in need of some TLC...and your's in certainly an inspiration. I'm a fan of your acorn nut covers - look good. ...and Marty - I'm sure I'll end up with the same disease as you in time! Rob - OZ Quote

I even polished the brass fittings on the oil pressure rubber hose, along with the hard line that runs down to the block... Pete Quote
