I am going to convert my 49 Coronet to 12V. I have been scouring the net for information on how to handle the servo on the Gyromatic tranny, but have only come up with "it can be done" - which just encourages me to find a way. Before I mess up the tranny (or force a larger project), does anyone know how this can be done? Looking at the wiring diagram, if I use a 12V to 6V converter or ballast resister on the red wire off of the coil (and switch it to the + side), that will power the transmission circuit with 6V negative ground. Will this work? Has anyone done anything that has? Before all the 6V faithful chime in, due to my wife's asthma, AC is a necessity. Not a luxury. That makes 12V also a necessity. That goes before all the "brighter lights" and "modern stereo" arguments. Sure was easier on my old 49 SD 3 on the tree ....

My 1950 Dodge Coronet with a Gyromatic transmission dies, But restarts sort of easy, i can only drive very slow after this happens. I am looking for help to find what is making the condenser go out. I feel this happens to my car after driving on the freeway. After i bought this car an older man, friend of the family said when he was a kid no one liked the old Dodge because the condensers always go out. They think it had to do with the shifting of the transmission. ( ignition stopping and stating ) I have not seen any common post here about this. I think there is some thing out of wrong with my car that i can not find or know what to look for. Do any of you have leads for me to check PLEASE Thank you

Picked up a really nice 51 Coronet Gyromatic w/ 230 Flathead. I’m 3rd owner, 10K original miles. Looking to put in a Gen 1 hemi and a vintage BW T-85 3 speed column shift.... more or less trying to make it a 50s correct Hot Rod. (Yes... doing up the Flathead is still in consideration ). Question is, will I have to replace the whole column or will the column for the Gyromatic be able to link right up? I’m thinking no as the column for the Gyromatic has R, 1(H&L) & 2(H&L)... and nothing for a 3rd gear. Yup... I’m THAT guy... so my apologies if someone has to explain or revisit AGAIN. Thanks for any help!!! Tips on 50s correctness are welcomed too! Again, thanks & happy upcoming New Year! hoop
