  1. Thank you. It is actually 1975 is the last year that doesn't need to be smogged.
  2. Ok thank you very much and to keep you up todate here is the picture of the back of the cab where my husband has primered it. Now he is working on the rest of the cab. Since he is working alone on the truck he is doing it in sections and he doesnt got any concerns with over spray cause he has done it before with our Monte Carlo. Which he also did in sections with spray paint..... The car looked like our truck when we got. Heres a picture he wants your opion on it. Last thing to complete it is smog then we can actually drive it around.... We also are going to change the rims to rally rims as soon as we can....
  3. Thank you William my husband is going to look at that right now....
  4. OK today we had our garage open looking over the truck and noticed this under the passenger side of the cab......... We cant help but think something is missing... Can someone please help us out by telling us what this bracket is actually for?
  5. My husband will be doing exactly what you said to do..... Thank you very much.... Also my husband said he thought patience was learned not a virtue...LOL And since he wasn't born with it he is going to have to learn it... LOL
  6. here are some pictures of the front suspension. he wants input on your opinion on what he should change out or repair concerning this.......any and all input he told me to tell you guys he greatly appreciates it. Hello my name is jerry jr (michelles husband) I feel like now is a good time as any to introduce myself to the forum. Also a BIG THANK YOU to you all for all the help and advice on this project.
  7. here are some pics of the cabs side and front view. my husband is starting to take off the blue paint to get it ready for primer. he is going to take apart the front end but from what he tells me, bolts just seem to break off during removal. and now he tells me I need to get him an extraction tool. btw....if anyone has any input on which is the best way to go about extracting the remaining part of the bolt with minimal damage I would like your input on it. also which extraction tool would be best to use cause he thinks any way he goes about it he would have to rethread it.
  8. ok thank you very much....as soon as my husband gets to doing the front suspension ill let him know about this and to check it out before anything. once more thank you for all the help.
  9. Ok now when we go on rockauto.com and put for the 53 Willys shackles it gives a list of cars. Can you tell me which car or better yet can you just give me the part number so I dont order the wrong ones? Please Thank you..
  10. We haven't named our truck yet........ My husband and I decided to show our appreciation to everyone for being so welcoming, nice and helpful to us...... We are going to let everyone decide among each other our trucks name. . It will also be the license plate. So please let us know what name you come up with.... We are here in California and so it could be 7 or less letters I believe. Thank you everyone
  11. Hubby just finished flipping the shackles...... And leveling it out even if he knows that it'll change somewhat when the bed Is on once more.....I guess he just wanted to see the profile with its new ride height. My husband said he hopes he did it right..... The other side looks the same. Also he wanted me to mention that the shackles we have don't have rubber bushings.
  12. Ok my husband wants to get the opinion of everyone on the shackles..... To him they look good..... But since he really isn't a mechanic by trade he would like a second opinion from someone on here......
  13. I told my husband and he asked just the rear shackles and is there anything else he can do to give it a lower stance? Also is there any modifications he will have to do to the front to even it out?
  14. This is after taking it apart to see if the rear suspension was structurally sound and to change the wood on the bed as well as all the rusty nuts and bolts.... Yes one of the rear fender is red and one is blue.......... Just trying the color out..... And giving my husband more to do... LOL....
  15. Our truck before we bought it........... After they painted it and how we bought it.....
  16. I want to really thank William Davey for the help he has been giving us on here. He have been a very big help to me... THANK YOU WILLIAM
  17. Now that we see how many people from here on the forum attend, my husband and I are going to do what we can to make it. Where we live there aint people willing to help out another, especially if they don't know you.
  18. Thank you for the welcome. I am still learning how to do things on here so please bare with me.......... I promise to put pictures as soon as I can............ As for the BBq we are going to try our best to go........ Its about 3 1/2 hours from were we live......
  19. That sounds like a plan. My husband and I love BBQ thank you for us both. Hopefully ill get some pictures up of our truck today...
  20. Ok the carburetor is off and so is the fuel pump...... Also we don't have the air filter housing... So if anyone knows where we can find one it would help us out a lot. Young Ed........ Also I am sorry about what I said about the BBQ.... I am just finding my way around the forum and I read forum about the BBQ. We are new to the site and didn't really explore until you said about it. We don't have to many people that help with info like on here... I hope I didn't upset anyone. Hopefully we will be able to make it to the BBQ.
  21. Also the problem with trying to see if it starts is like I said all the wiring on it is gone basically and the fuel system like the fuel tank is off and all the fuel lines are also not there along with the fuel pump is off. So all those issues need to be addressed before we can actually start it right? As for the pictures Ill post pictures soon.
  22. Oh.... Well we actually live 45 minutes from Bakersfield. Besides we would feel out of place since we wouldn't know anyone there. Would feel right to go.
  23. Oh Ed we live in California so going to a BBQ would be hard for us...LOL
  24. Well from sitting in the garage for so long and having kids playing in it some of the wiring has been torn out of it. As for the engine wouldn't the best thing to do is have it rebuilt since the gaskets hoses and things are going to be weak from sitting so long without being started?
