  1. Rich, I don't know either one but I'm always willing to meet new people. Can I call you on Sunday? I am working Saturday or else I would call then. -Justin
  2. Fully functioning heat riser you say?
  3. I was told you were the master. Thanks!
  4. Yeah I'm in coopersburg. I used to work in the King of Prussia area so I'm familiar with valley forge. I've heard that I could have it recast. Having it recast is a last resort I think. The dodge wheel would be a temporary replacement until I could afford a recast or find one that is nos (highly unlikely). Chrysler nationals are coming up so I'm hopeful that I can find something there. I was thinking just as you are that the splines are the same. However, the parts interchangeability for the four makes is pretty much up in the air for certain things.
  5. Happy birthday! Thanks rockwood for telling me about Mr. Asche.
  6. Thank you for bringing me here. Also, I have read that article in the past. It's extremely interesting that this car is that reliable when taken care of appropriately. My car, may be sol in that department. When I take the car apart I'll be better able to determine its longevity. I'm going to read the article again this evening to see what I missed before.
  7. Thanks, glad to be here.
  8. Thanks Don

    New Guy

Hello everyone, Last August I bought a 1951 DeSoto Custom on a whim. I knew absolutely nothing about this car and when I saw it's condition sitting on the side of the road I knew I wanted it. It's basically a solid car with a few issues here and there. I'm rebuilding it slowly and at the same time am rebuilding myself. I won't get into complete details but I was in the Army for 5 years with one tour to Iraq. In essence the car is a lot like myself, damaged. So I'm rebuilding this car to hopefully rebuild myself psychologically. Currently, I am studying insurance and risk management at Temple University graduating this May. I hope to make the best of this site as I was recommended to come here for all things DeSoto. If you haven't already, I previously posted a thread about my steering wheel, please have look if you can help me out. Thanks again. -Justin
  10. I have a 1951 DeSoto with a rotten steering wheel which is disintegrating onto the floorboards. It is beyond repair and I have heard that finding one for his car from another DeSoto is basically impossible. However I have found a steering wheel from a 1949 Dodge which I think will work. I have checked my interchange book to see if the splines are the same and I couldn't find anything. Does anyone have any experience with this issue. Did Dodge/Plymouth/DeSoto/Chrysler use the same racks back then? I asked this this question on the H.A.M.B. and I was sent here by another member who stated that I look for Dodgeb4ya here. So what says the hive?
