  1. Its a little late but I spoke with the shop last week and they are going to sleeve it for free since it was their fault for not catching it. I should have the engine by the end of the week!
  2. Looking to purchase a Pertronix distributor soon but am needing some guidance. I have a 50 Special Deluxe and cannot figure out which distributor to order considering Pertronix has a bunch of different 6v +ground systems.
  3. Will do! I am very pleased with the shop and process of having the engine redone. Thank you all for the advice and ideas!
  4. He said they should have done it right the first time and are going to sleeve it. I have yet to talk $ with them but ill let yall know when I hear. They are good guys so I doubt it will cost much at all
  5. Here are two before pictures of the engine
  6. Reg, is this a problem or is there an easy fix to get everything to seal up right?
  7. It was locked up
  8. He said he is going to machine it more and sleeve it. I bought egges full kit for it so I will stick with them. I snagged some pictures of it too.
  9. Thanks Dpollo. I ended up buying all new parts for the engine so it should run well once finished.
  10. I had not thought of sleeving until you all suggested it. I am happy with the shop because they are doing something for me that I cannot. No battle here! Just want to get it right the first time. Im planning on this being the only time the engine ever comes all the way out of this car so it has to be done the right way. Thank you all for your help!
  11. The shop told me what to buy once they had started the boring process. Everything else fits nicely except #6. This car is my baby and I want what is best in the long run for it haha. Would sleeving be just as good long term as boring all of them out larger and going with larger pistons and rings?
  12. So yall, I am in a pickle. I have my engine currently at the shop where it has been rebored and honed. The owner called yesterday and told me there was a little bit of space between the piston, rings, and cylinder in #6. He said that id burn a little oil and maybe smoke a bit. I cannot decide if I should have him take more off the cylinder wall and just order larger pistons, and rings (again). Or If I should just leave it. Needing some advice. I personally feel I have too much blood, sweat (money) and tears in this car to not have it re-done. Also, what do you think a fair price to rebore would be?
  13. Stupid question. Ive got a 1950 special deluxe, how do I know if it is a p19 or a p20? what is the difference?
  14. That is correct! Thanks, I am new to this and didn't know it should be posted somewhere else.
  15. Only part left I need to close this engine up are the main bearings in 10 over. Anyone know where to get them that would have them in stock? Egge and AndyBern don't have them in stock..
  16. Where did you get all your parts from?
  17. Looking to switch over to an air ride suspension on my 50 special deluxe to adjust ride height and was wondering if anyone has done this and what all you used. Staying 6v on this project.
  18. If I decide to buy headers for this thing on top of the dual manifold, will I need an electric fuel pump? I have heard this somewhere and was wondering. Thanks
  19. I am new to this and am looking into buying the offenhauser dual carb setup for my 1950 special deluxe sedan. Of course I am looking for cheaper carbs that would work easily or another carter 6-595 in ok shape. I don't know much about carbs so act as if you're talking to a 12 year old. If you have any links to carbs that would pair up perfectly and be easy to install please include them in a reply. Thanks for you're advice in advance!
