  1. Follow up to my search for info: I drained the trans (not the tourqe converter) and filled it up. I then proceeded to add more than what came out/what it needs beacuse the trans level stick (trans dip stick?) Said it was dry yes it was in neutral Like its supposed to be. All so I filled the trans directly from the checker tube and no fluid was on the ground. The reason I changed it other than it being who knows how old is. I got a slight burning smell, and she sliped out of drive for a second. The fluid that came out was not burt smelling however and it had no metal in it. My air breather for the trans had a 1" thick coating of grease on it that I cleaned off befor the scary trans incident. And befor it did the weird drive slip, burned smell it coughed up some trans fluid and it came out from the dip stick. So I serious nee your guy's help to understand this weird ass old trans. Thanks
  2. Also, are there any common modifacations done to these tranys?if so what aspects do these modifacations change in the drivability.
  3. Well I know alitlebit. But "shifting" (I do not know what to call it) is still akward. Fluid may be low? Also did these old transmissions have non spline cut reverse gears? In reverse mine whines slightly at high speeds (much like a manual vehicle would).
  4. I like that its old. I wish it was manual (I have never owned a manual car). The question I could ask as a start I point would be, the toruqe conver never seems to shift at the same times. Yes plymouthy I expect a short life beacuse I do not totally understand it. I am still learning how automatic transmissions work (im only 17)
  5. Yes I have searched, nothing super interesting came up. I already have a powerflite im just curious about them. I cant seem to find much info on them other than whati already know
  6. So what transmissions can bolt up with what adapters? What about changing out the torque converter to a modern one? And sory about "power fleet" I just misspelled it
  7. Yes the 1954 powerflite and any other trans simaller (maby the ford o matic is like it in design) it would also be cool to see what other people have done with their powerfleet's, modifications, painting ect.
  8. hello, I need advice/info on thePower flite automatic transmission. Any and all help will be nessesary. I have a owners manual and would just like to discus the trans -thanks
