  1. Also, I do have a question about my car that I havent really been able to get a definite answer on. The front bumper has the normal holes and bolts in the front of it just below the headlight/turn signal area, but it also has holes with no bolts in it in the very top of the bumper...some google image searching shows me that the Imperial had a small "winglets" mounted here, but the Windsor did not. My question is...were these optional on 1950 lower models and standard on the Imperial, or did all of the bumpers have these holes, or did this bumper possibly come from an Imperial? I don't know a lot about the history of the car other than it was "restored" in the early 80s and the guy I bought it from decided to spray it flat black for whatever reason.
  2. Thanks for the kind words ya'll! Yeah I am a member on the HAMB too but as you mentioned this place is MoPar only, so I figured this would be the resource to help me out the most. I have done some hunting around for intakes and such but not had a ton of luck, most of what I find is for the plym/dodge 23" block not the chrysler/desoto 25" block. I know Edgy makes an aluminum head for this engine, and it looks pretty rad but I am wondering about whether or not it is worth it. The prestomatic works like a charm (once I figured out how to drive it) and feeling the "clunk" as it shifts itself was satisfying to say the least! I have been to the rusty hope website and I saw that in addition to his disk brake conversion kits he also splits intakes and exhaust manifolds, but I am still holding out hope of finding some Offy or Fenton stuff. I am in no hurry to tear this engine apart since it runs so smooth, but winter in the PNW is upon us and she has gone into hibernation for a few months until the sun comes back out (april-ish? LOL). I do need some misc exterior trim bits but I will save that post for the wanted section after I scour what ads are already out there. I know it's got too many doors to make it "cool" in some people's eyes but I think this thing is the bees knees! I will be taking tons of pictures and posting them as I take on every new project.
  3. Hey gang! As my title suggests I am new to the site and relatively new to the flathead MoPar community. I have owned tons of MoPars but never one this old or with a flathead. My most recent project is a 1950 Chrysler Windsor sedan with the 251 flathead and prestomatic transmission. It's got just over 39k on the clock (original miles!) and is absolutely rust free. I picked it up for the cheap on craigslist and I am the third owner. It runs like a champ, drives and stops with no problems. My plans for the car is to upgrade the engine as though it was the late 50s early 60s with some traditional speed parts i.e. multiple carbs, split exhaust manifolds, etc. The brakes will be less traditional as I want to convert to front discs simply for safety and peace of mind (my wife and kids ride in this car as well). I plan on relocating the front upper shock mounts with some F1 shock mounts. The previous owner did a hurry up flat black paint job over the original shiny maroon paint so it doesnt look very pretty. We put our own touch on the paint by shooting some lace on the hood, fenders, roof, and trunk lid...we like to be different! (see my gallery for pics) Anyhow, this intro is getting to be long-winded so I will close by saying I am glad to be here and I will definitely be bending your ears as I begin to tackle some of these projects!
