  1. I have a Dodge long block motor and a tip toe transmission I am getting ready to take it to the salvage yard. Anything anyone wants they can have. The cost would be shipping and packing costs. I live in Grand Junction Co. 81504. Larry
  2. I have a 52 B3B and wanted to change to a negative ground 12 volt alternator. I used an alternator from Oreilly Auto part number 01-0041 which cost $75.00 because I did not have a core. I made a U shaped bracket and welded it to the top of the original bracket that bolts to the block. I made the U shaped bracket about 1/2 inch longer on the inside which would allow me to move the alternator forward or backward to help align the fan belt and put in washers to take up the space. From position 2 on the alternator I ran a wire to the battery terminal. I then ran a wire to the battery terminal on the regulator disconnecting the field and armature wires from the regulator. I switched the wires on the coil so the points would be negative ground. I switched the cables on the battery so it is negative ground. The wiper motor is now running backward but does not seem to be a problem. It is still the 6-volt motor and I plan on putting a resistor in to reduce the voltage. The heater motor is now running backward. I will probably have to switch it out for a 12-Volt negative ground motor. I still need to switch the wires on the back on the amp meter so it shows charging as opposed to discharge. The starter is working fine with the 12-volt negative ground. The alternator does not charge at an idle but will begin charging about 800 rpm. The only problem I have is alternators seem to be designed to run clock wise looking toward the back of the alternator (drivers seat). The motor in my Dodge runs counter clockwise as looking from the drivers seat. This means the alternator is running backward. It will charge fine running backward but the cooling fan on the alternator is running backward which may cause it to overheat. I will have to run it a while to see if it gets hot. Larry

  6. Thanks to Zen Master. my regulator is not marked at all. It may even be the wrong regulator. thanks Larry
  7. I have a 52 b3b and am having voltage regulator or generator problems. I think the generator is working. When I disconnect the wires from the generator and put a volt meter from the armature to ground and run a jumper wire from the battery negative terminal to the field terminal it appers to be charging. My voltage regulator is not marked for Field or armature. . Is the bottom terminal on the left of voltage regulator field or armature. The terminal on the right should be battery. When I go to dodge pilot house knowledge it shows all three terminals on the left side as you are looking at the regulator with the field terminal in the middle.Basicly batt field arm. Does any know if mine is field arm or arm field on the left side. Any help would be appreciated. I tried posting a picture but was not able to as it was to big and I do not know how to make it smaller. Larry
  8. I have replaced the 4-speed in my 52 B3B with a 3-speed. Does anyone know if the drive shafts are the same length? I put the 4-speed shaft in but it seemed to strech the shaft quite a bit. It seems to work. I would appreciate any help. Thanks Larry
  9. Thanks for the help. I found Clesters. Thanks again.
  10. I have a 52 and having trouble fitting the fender to the cowl. there is a gap between the fender and the cowl. I don't know what fills the gap. I have not been able to find any close up's of this area to see what should be there. I posted a picture in my gallery. lalkie64. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Larry
  11. I am new to the forum and have a questin about the hood on a 52. Some pictures show a hood prop rod with rods that run from the fire wall to the radiator support. Did all pilot house dodge have these? Mine did not have the prop rod or rods that lead to the firewall. If all pilot house pickups had them I guess I need some. Thanks Any help would be appreciated. Larry
  12. I have a titled 52 with matching numbers that has the older style stainless strips on the front grill as opposed to the job rated grill. Did dodge put out some of these on the 52 to use up stock. Some one could have put an older front end on the it. Has anyone seen the same thing. Thanks Larry
