  1. I haven's tried a diesel shop but will check. I stopped at the only hot rod shop in town. They didn't know of anyone in town that hones king pins. Any know of a hot rod shop in Denver that can hone the pins? Thanks Larry
  2. I always thought reaming was a little sloppy. Were you happy with the fit? What is the name of your local machine shop? Thanks Larry
  3. I live in Grand Junction Co about 250 miles from Denver. I have been unable to find a machine shop that can hone king pins. Does anyone in Denver know if there is a place that installs and hones king pins? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Larr
  4. I have a king pin kit for my 52 Dodge B3B missing two bushings Is there a source for just the bushings.? Does any know of a shop that can hone the bushings in Grand Junction Colorado or Denver Colorado? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Larry
  5. I haven't been able to find non oil-lite bushings (.875 ID 1.00 OD) without reaming or honing. I think reaming would be sloppy. I was able to find nylon bushings and may try them. It had nylon bushing in it. I was also able to find a .875 reamer for about 20 bucks but it would take some work to make a bushing to align the shank. But again sloppy. Just looking for advice and solutions other than throwing money at it . Larry
  6. I am in the process of replacing the king pins on my 52 b3b. I ordered and received a king pin bushing set (moog part 8453B) and found the bushings were to large to fit in the knuckle. I froze the bushings and heated the knuckle. The bushings went in hard and one was distorted. I found one machine shop in my area that would hone the bushing for about $100.00. This seems excessive. My questions is will oil impregnated bronze bushings that are .875 ID and 1.00OD work for king pins? I purchased one and the ID fits well and it appears as if the od will press in without any problems. I just wanted to find out if any one has tried these? Larry
  7. Still asking if steel bushings need honed or reamed? I purchased a Moog set 8453B Pin size- .875 iD split bushing size .868 OD split bushing OD size 1.003. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Larry
  8. I have found a moog 8453b king pin set that indicates it has steel bushing. Do these need honing? Mostly I have seen brass bushings on nylon bushings. Larry
  9. Thanks for the response. The majority of other sites indicate not to use nylon because it does not last. I expect to use brass. Thanks Larry
  10. 52 B3B Looking for information on using nylon or brass bushing for the king pins. Rock auto has both. Are there king pin bushings that do not have to be reamed or honed besides nylon?
  11. That's what I am looking for. Some user feedback. I restored a Triumph TR 4 a while back and it had nylon bushings for about everyting in the front end. I don't use the truck much and it is easy use. I will probably go with the nylon and five it a try. I can always replace them with bronze if they don't work out. It just work. Thanks Larry
  12. I am actually looking for someone that has put in the nylon bushings. Finding someone to hone them is difficult in my area. I thought about purchasing the kit and making my own out of nylatron. NAPA has a set that is reasonable priced. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Larry
  13. I have a 52 B3B and need too replace the kingpins. I am finding ones with nylon bushings. I would like information on how well the nylon bushings work and any information that will help with installition. I have always used bronze bushing that have to be honed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Larry
  14. I would appreciate moe pictures if you have them. I have the small bumper on mine. I might be able to find a way to attach it to the other one off the s-10. Did you ever pull a trailer with this hitch. My trailer is probably too big for the truck bit I expect to try it. Thanks
  15. Thanks for the pictures. I haven't measured the thickness of the frame on the dodge yet but will. From the comments i will probably add angle iron cross bracing maybe some box tubing. I want to keep the ball as close to the back of the truck as I can my trailer is probably too long for the truck. Probably need too shorten the trailer or get another one but will try mine first. Any help would be appreciated.
