  1. quick question guys, i got a new fuel pump for my 47 plymouth 218. the factory one didnt have the glass bowl, and had a straight rod coming out. i ordered a pump for a 230, it has the glass bowl and a curved rod coming out. will it work?
  2. yeah, the car has been sitting awhile and i recently had the starter rebuilt. when it turned over, muddy water came out of the flywheel cover. i think it has been leaking a long time. also i observed the car had about half a gallon of coolant in it. looks like ill be removing the engine, might have a rebuild done
  3. I have a 47 plymouth special deluxe. does it have freeze plugs at the rear of the engine? i have found a coolant leak, it looks like it is coming out of the flywheel cover. any suggestions?

  5. What is a clutch fork rod adjusting nut? in reading my owners manual it says that this is how you adjust the clutch pedal, and for some reason i cant find the bugger. Any help?
  6. I have a 47 Plymouth club coupe, i recently replaced the clutch fork return spring, due to the stock one breaking. I have noticed that the clutch feels "loose". I dont feel like it is engaging until it is almost fully depressed. Is this normal? How do i adjust the linkage on the clutch? Any help is appreciated, John

  9. Valvoline makes a racing oil, i think it is called ZR-1. It is formulated with zinc, and comes in a heavier weight. can't remember exactly right now

I've done that, i think you are correct because i tried lightly tapping it with the wooden end of a hammer, and it worked. it is now just too stuck to operate, i dropped it off at my local starter repair shop. Hopefully they can repair it. I don't want to risk damaging it further, they're almost impossible to find!
  11. I'm having a similar issue, my clutch linkage is off. when you look under the car, there is a rod that should be inserted into the pressure plate that is just hanging down
  12. I recently have began to work on the car my grandfather willed to me. It is a 47 special deluxe coupe with the original drivetrain. The starter must need a rebuild. when the button is pressed, all you can hear is a distinctive whirring sound. Any ideas?
