Thank you to you all for reaching out! Yes, I did reach out to DCM! Thank you, ggdad1951! Sending my starter to DCM where they will completely rebuild, install a new bendix clutch, new brushes and rewire to 12VDC. Price estimate around $300, worth it. I updated the electrical system with a 12 volt battery, isolated to just the starter. The rest of the system I left at 6 volts. Once again. THANK YOU ALL!

Thank you, Dave72dt. Yes, some of the clutch assembles are good. Brushes are short and I prefer a new/rebuilt starter. These starters are a pain in the butt to remove and re-install. I'm looking at businesses that do that. Looking at Ebay starters and internal parts from that era, GMC and Chevy internal parts look the same as the Dodge. I'm hoping someone on this forum has found a best solution. Thanks again, Dave72dt!

Having problems finding a starter for a 1948 Dodge Model B1D, 1-Ton truck. I have a number of starters from that era, 1948 thru 1953. These are the foot-button starters that insert the clutched gear into the flywheel in sync with making the 6 VDC contact. On another note: I only need the clutch assembly which looks the same as those used on GMC's and Chevys of that era. I prefer finding an entire starter. Any feedback is welcomed.

It's the bracket shown on page 23-5 only I need the passenger side.

Thank you but that's not it. The 48, B1D, I have is a stake bed so the tail light mounts to a bracket off the frame. It's a flat flange, transitioned to a tube about 10 inches long, that flattens out to accommodate the two-bolt design of the tail light. I'll probably end up fab my own.

Thanks much - what a great web site! Mine is different than yours. My B1D is a stake bed frame so it has a flange to frame, a round tube that flattens out to the two-bolt light pattern. Once I figure out how to attach a photo to the forum, I'll do that.

Greetings. I'm a new member looking for a passenger side tail light mounting bracket. Have the drivers side and new lights. Also, has anyone had success finding replacement rims for the old split rims? I would like to get away from them due to the dangers. Thank you.

I am restoring a 1848, 1 Ton, Model B1D and looking for a passenger side tail light bracket that mounts to the frame. I have the drivers and new lights. Also, and most important, wondering if anyone has success finding replacements for the old split-rims. I'd like to get always from them. Thank you.

Greetings, I am new to the club and forum. I am restoring a 1948 Dodge 1 Ton, model B1D and want to replace the split rims bu can't find replacements. I tried numerous places including Coker tire. Any ideas?
