  1. No worries Jeff, I figured it'd be a little hectic around this time. I'm definitely on the look out for more parts. Evilbay is always calling me though. Yea that one is also a 3 speed column shift.
  2. Got it Merle. Wish you were closer so you could school me on these trucks in person. I will be removing the FD stuff and replacing it with a 3spd floorshift. Maybe down the road i'll swap back to the fluid drive but i need to get more knowledge on the whole system and what it is that I have and don't have. I would need to buy all of the column shift linkages and what not to get this one to work. So for now I'll clean it all up and store it. Jeff I should have swung by to see you this past weekend. I was in Irvine picking up and dropping off my buddy. Maybe this weekend if you're not busy I can get you and a few other locals to swing by and check out the trucks.
  3. Whoops I got a little ahead of myself there. What I meant to say was that I need to get the FD bellhousing off then that should expose the pressure plate and clutch. I definitely will be marking those bolts. THanks for that tip Merle. Thanks Don, I'm going to make sure I mark them before I pull them. Thanks Jeff! I'm going to start doing some more research. I didn't realize the type of transmission until i saw the big fill plug on the top right of the bellhousing. I'll keep working on this. I did notice a few little odds and ends that are on this set up over the set up on the 48. When I purchased the motor the owner stated that he drove the truck in to the shop but the trans was stuck in reverse. So they pulled the top cover and saw that one of the shift forks was broken. Could I find a floorshift top cover for a fluid drive column shift? If not then I may just end up putting the trans from my 48 truck. But then that means the bellhousing, flywheel, clutch and pressure plate are all different.
  4. So since the transmission b is a column shift I need to remove the transmission and bellhousing. Got the transmission off but now the bellhousing doesnt slide right off. I'm assuming I need to unbolt the flywheel from the crank in order to get the clutch out. Im glad I snagged a set of crow's feet so I can get in there.
  5. Oh wow. Thanks Keven. Going to bookmark that page! Oh and I still need to get back to you on those parts!
  6. Thanks Rod. I'll get some pics up soon.
  7. I believe the T denotes that it is a truck motor.
  8. Well I went and picked up the motor from the guy in San Diego. Clean oil in the pan and nice clear coolant came pouring out when my buddy and I were unloading the motor. Trying to figure out which motor I have. Numbers right under the the head above the freeze plug read T306*2I9I*. Numbers on block towards bellhousing read 132622938. Numbers by the distributor read A 2 19 50.
  9. One thing I most definitely have learned is to be patient and persistent with these trucks. I'll have to check CL right now for that trans. I noticed that wave of stuff as well. I see a ton of trucks now compared to a few months back. Ive been looking on ebay for parts and what not and have found some good stuff in the past and now. Have definitely been keeping an eye on the classifieds. That's usually the first place I look when I get on the forum. I'll definitely keep my eyes and ears open for stuff.
  10. awe man. Well i guess i could turn it into some lawn art or something. LOL
  11. Yeaup. That's the one. Ended up getting it for free so why not. I guess the 48's 3spd will get bolted to that motor. Thanks the guy i spoke to for the motor just had a chevy 350 installed in his truck and had this laying around. He said that it ran strong with no issues. It is a 3 on the tree trans but mentioned that the fork or forks were broken. I'll be heading down there this Friday so wish me luck!
  12. Still working on this thing. Found a motor in San Diego, so I'll be heading down there this weekend to pick that up and drop it right into the truck. Also picked up a 4 spd trans from a guy off Craigslist. Cracked open the top plate and well it wasn't pretty... So i'm hoping i could salvage this trans. I did find some gears on Evilbay but i'm hoping i could find them cheaper elsewhere and locally. Anyone have a blast cabinet?
  13. Yea most definitely Rod. Maybe I can meet up with you if it's possible.
  14. Well haven't had much time to work on the truck this holiday weekend. Been busy with family and what not. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get to do even just a little work on it to keep progress going. I brought over some other parts i had for my 48 so i'll start cleaning and or fixing those parts to get them into this truck.
  15. Wow it's looking great! Definitely another truck for inspiration and motivation.
  16. Thanks Jeff. Next time I'm in Irvine I'll give you a shout. I just posted up a new ad in the classifieds for a long bed and long running boards. I see an ad on CL for some running boards. They belong to anyone on here? I'm also debating on getting the 218 from the 48 rebuilt. I did see some nasty gouges in one of the cylinders so the block will definitely need a bore. Any good machine shops in So Cal?
  17. Welcome aboard Ruddigger. I'm relatively new as well but that's one beauty of a truck! Most definitely. Once I get my truck running and it's safe for the road I'll drive it finished or not. I still would like to set something up at the house to wrench and what not.
  18. Thanks JB. That's exactly what I wanted to do!
  19. Thanks JB. That's exactly what I needed to see!
  20. Sorry jeff this one didn't come with it. Apparently the PO said it was junk and tossed it. Do you have the ad or link to it? My buddy lives right off the 405 off Jeffrey. He's the one that got me hooked.
  21. Thanks Merle. The 50 truck was complete. The PO had started to strip it down in preparation to drop a chevy 350 into it. So I do have a complete front end for it. Yes the 48 had the nose swapped out along with a bunch of other half assed mods. That one used to be a tow truck. I actually purchased the older nose and grill bars for it. I didnt like that b3 nose and finding the missing pieces well itd be a pain and $$$.
  22. Thanks Mike. I do have a ton of parts that I started to purchase for the 48. So I'll use what I can off the 48 parts pile for the time being.
  23. Now here's where the fun is going to start. I don't think i've seen a dually with a full bed and fenders. The plan is to make that happen. ggdad1951 This is why I'm interested in your bed sides.
  24. Some of the extra switches. Check out the exposed wiring. This is where the floor boards and trans plate came in from the 48 dodge i have. I'll be needing another set when that time comes. Also I noticed the firewall brake release compared to my 48 that had the floor/transmission e brake set up. Starting to clean her up. Removed the extra switches and pulled the radio delete. I hope have a radio sitting in that slot soon. (Thanks Keven!)
