  1. Can a car with the M-6 tranny be towed on a dolly without removing the driveshaft??
  2. 4-door, here are some shots
  3. Thanks guys, The reason I am not taking it is that I also have a 1950 DeSoto that does run. It is 500 miles from here to where I am moving. I can only haul one car on the back of the U-haul. I also have my Crown Vic to take there too. I would really like to keep it but I don't know how to get it there without spending more than it is worth. And, I will only have a one car garage. At this point I can't justify the expense of moving it. I will take pictures tomorrow and post some and see if anyone thinks I can get $800 for it on the bay. I just hate to pay their darn fees. Thanks, Woody
  4. Retiring and relocating soon and need to sell my p11. Have a potential local buyer but no cash yet. If that falls thru, what is a fair price if I list it on ebay? Body has surface rust and a couple of minor dents but nothing major. The floor pans are shot. So are the seats. I rebuilt the starter and generator. The engine will turn using the starter but I have no spark. No time left to find out why... probably something simple. New plugs, wires, cap.rotor, condenser installed.Grill should clean up nice. Plus a lot of extra parts too numerous to mention here. Good set of 15" radials on it and all four original rims and hub caps. Can anyone suggest a fair price????? Thanks, Woody
  5. Like the one in David Maxwells picture. Thanks
  6. I think it is called a bell crank. It swivels on a pin on top of the block and the carb linkage connects to it. It is for a p11. Anyone have one to sell?? Thanks, Woody
  7. After I finish honing, can the M/C be bench tested for leaking by putting pressure on the rod??? Anyone know the cost of having one sleeved if necessary????
  8. After soaking it several times with PB Blaster and tapping it with a hammer the washer came loose. Had to keep soaking and abeating it to get the rest of it out. The inside feals rough in spots. Will try honong it out some.
  9. This picture is like the one on my 1950 DeSoto. The P11 is different, there is a piston stop lock ring that holds everything inside. That came off easily. Under that is the piston washer. It is that washer that won't come out.
  10. Putting a rebuild kit in a M/C on my P11. My book says after the lock ring is removed, pull out the piston stop washer and piston. I cant get the washer off. Is there a trick to this???????
  11. Thanks, but I go one Christopher....... Woody
  12. Yanked the genny from the p11 a few days ago to check it out. Sanded the commutator with fine paper ang cleaned the grooves with the tip of a knife. The brushes were hardley worn but the wires did not look so good. Took it today and had a parts store put it on their machine to spinn it for me. I tester it with my meter while spinning and got 0 volts.
  13. Connected the jumpers as mentioned. Starter whurrs but does not turn the engine. I can't get to the upper bolt to yank it out. Can't find my S-shaped 5/8 wrench that I used on my DeSoto. My 5/8 box wrench is not long enough and not enouhg room and to much in the way to lock another to it. Any suggestions?????? Woody
  14. Switch is already off, I picked up another one onebay recently
  15. Thanks, I will try this weekend.
  16. My starter on the p11 is original. There is no battery or cables on it. I was thinking about using jumper cables on it just to see if it turns. Positive ground of course, Do I attach the negative to the starter and the positive to ground???
  17. I want to test the starter on my p11 without pulling it. Using jumpers. what do I connect to where bypassing the ignition switch? Woody
  18. Trying to get the dash out of my p11. The two large screws by the doors wont come out. I have soaked them many times with PB Blaster and still cant budge them. I tried a large screwdriver type prybar and all I managed to do was mess up the head a little. Any suggestions ?????
  19. I can look it up in the parts book at work tomorrow.
  20. Anyone have a rebuildable one? The one that is on mine is the same as my 1950 DeSoto and I know it is not the correct one. Thanks, Woody
  21. Chris, Check your messages....... Woody
  22. My p11 is missing both the oil filter and mounting bracket. My 1950 DeSoto has the sealed canister P 1/2 type but I am not sure what the p11 takes. Anyone have a mounting bracket and/or info on the filter type. Thanks, Woody
  23. I am told that to find TDC you can remove a small plug behind the # 6 cylinder, drop a long dowel in there and turn the engine by hand til the dowel reaches the highest level. That done, the rotor should be at the 7:00 position abd you can run the wires from there. I did that on my p11 and the rotor points to 4:00 ????
  24. I was also thinking about sucking it out with a Turkey Baster.
  25. All the above you mentioned. I have a small shop vac that uas a nozzle that will co in there.
