  1. In 1970 at 18 yrs of age I bought my D 24 for $ 70 from a farmers field. It had not run for 5 yrs. I drove it home and that summer with some very basic repairs, my buddy and I immediately did a road trip of about 1200 miles RT "just cause we could". It smoked and belched the whole way, the police fined us for driving on the shoulder to allow others to pass, etc, etc. Good times and i still have it....many more $$ sunk in now,
  2. My sense is if you are patient you will find a nice 41 Ply Bus Coupe. A good friend of mine has a very sweet '40 P10 Deluxe here in Victoria, Canada. I don't think he would part with it. However it is a bit morbid for readers here but there are a lot of old guys with nice old cars in the US and Canada. They are dying off slowly and their families are often not interested in their cars. I predict many will be sold off in the years to come at good prices. Prices will stay low to moderate as not many young people are interested, esp in '40s cars. I expect some abuse over these comments....just a dumb Canadian.
  3. Any special treatment required for radials on 48 Dodge original rims ? I just ordered new WWW Coker radials. Had other 15 " radials for several years, fairly low mileage. Nice handling, no problems. Now I understand the split rims may require tubes, etc. Ignorance is bliss, but I was happy with the P 205/ R15s - they just wore out. Do you think I need tubes now? Thank you.
  4. Thanks guys, When it is so sludged up, why does the temp stay normal?
  5. Hello from Calgary, Canada. I haven't been on the forum since it was expanded, years ago. Good to get back. 48 D 24 Fluid Drive. Engine temp is always good, in 180 - 200 F range. I drained the rad and block to change coolant after 4-5 years. At the engine block drain hardly anything came out. I expected it to drain the water in the water jacket, even tried it before draining the rad in case of draining back that way. This is #1 mystery to me. Also my info says the cooling system capacity is approx. 15 quarts. I only got about 6 quarts from draining the rad. That fluid was a bit dirty but no sludge or rust pieces. And runs fairly cool always. Overheated in a very slow parade, hot day once. I used Prestone Super Flush and filled and drained twice. ANY IDEAS why nothing from block drain and why 6 quarts vs. 15? Thanks.
