  1. I was thinking the jb weld might work. just trying to keep the studs aligned will be a bit tricky. the double sticky tape prob not so good. not a lot of surface on the backside of the trim, its kinda like a u-channel. guess I can try the jb and see what happens.
  2. I was stripping my dash so it can be blasted and painted, and when I went to remove the bottom chrome piece of trim from the glovebox lid all the studs just broke right off:( do any of you fine folks know how it may be repaired? or how hard a replacement will be to find? also, the side chrome appears to be riveted in place. is there a way to remove them for painting and such without damaging them?
  3. there is a place in long beach that does frame work, including front clip swaps and such, they have been mentioned in several car magazines over the years too. might want to give them a call and see what they can do for you. richards wheel and chassis 1460 Canal Ave Long Beach, CA 90813 (562) 437-7420 this is the info I got from the net yellow pages. hope they can help ya:)
  4. thanks everybody! I was racking my brain tryin to figure out if these things belong to my car or not. the pix are a great help. im sure I will find more bits that need identified along the way. daddyo, seeings how I only need one you are welcome to have the extra for your car, just pm your address and I will send it to ya.
  5. would there be two of them or just one? how about a pic? when i got the car it was partially disassembled, and I have the pleasure of trying to put it all back when the bodywork is done.
  6. I know that the mounts are made of rubber and can be rebuilt or bought new, I was just thinking about the polyurethane as an experiment to see how they feel on vibrations. if favorable then there is a new option that wont degrade like rubber. if not so good the can always use tried and true parts.
  7. I'm stripping the old girl down for the body shop, and these two panels were in a box of parts I got with the car. where do they belong or do they even belong to my P15? I cant find anything missing body wise, as far as I can tell.
  8. so what do you guys think? should I go ahead and replace my motor mounts? anyone ever see them go flat like that? from the look and feel I think they are original to the car straight from the factory. Im thinking about trying my hand at making some out of poly and see how it goes. anyone know of a source for a few small blocks of poly?
  9. im not sure about nevada, but in california all you need is a signed title. I would check on the net and see what nevada requires and go from there. you may not need to get it notarized depending on what the rules are in your state regarding out of state transfers.
  10. I drive city busses in long beach CA. been driving 8 years and counting.
  11. I gotta go with the "corvair" crowd on this one... I've had 2, a 64 monza vert, and a 62 coupe. Love the way they look... HATE the design on the enigine. oil leakage, fan belts being thrown or broken, poor heater, motor mounts that suspend instead of support the motor ( real fun when they break! can we say sparks?) best car, 1984 dodge mini cargo van, had 1,340,000 documented miles with only one engine rebuild, I bought it with 990,000 or so miles, and the only repair I ever had to do was replace both drive axles and cv joints. changed oil once a month, and drove the snot out of it, I sold it for $400 to a guy around the block from me, and he still drives this thing daily, although I think he might have put a new engine in it.
  12. I get to drive a lovely city bus until 2 am or so in downtown long beach california, right where they are putting on a stunt show where a guy is gonna jump a car off the pier....its gonna be a looong night!
  13. if my memory serves me right, when using to different alloys in an engine, iron+alum, or copper+alum, or any combo of alloys, the problem created is in the cooling system. the coolant act like an acid, and creates a mild electrical charge which will slowly eat away at the softest material, usually aluminum. basically it make your engine a really weak battery. the navy uses a small plate of zinc called a "sacrificial annode" on the sides of the ship to slow the rusting of the hull. they make automotive radiator caps that have this same thing attached, and the annode gets worn away and not your head or gasket and such. once its used up, just get another and your all set.
  14. I used to live in SE Kansas, just a bit down the road fron a small town called columbus. I actually liked livin there, but had to go back to where the work and money was.
  15. I'm in norwalk california, about 15 miles south of los angeles. I've seen a few P-15s around town. just saw two 4 doors, 1 metallic gray, 1 white, at the long beach car swap this past sunday.
