  1. Teme, I get all my parts from Andy Bernbaum. Expensive but Available! I just did a Clutch, Pressure plate, throw out bearing and cut the flywheel. Now on to another part of the car. 🤑
  2. AWESOME This site has helped me SO Much. My 38 D.B. was the first Flat Head I ever owned. Everybody got some kind of knowledge.
  3. Teme: I put a little heat right around the center of the Hub. I did that a couple times and then tightened my puller each time. Then I left it cool and it popped right off. There is no bearing in there to damage. My car sat in a ground floor barn for 50 years.
  4. Hershey is Definitely a Must do 4 me. I live less than 10 miles away. That's convenient 4 me! See everyone there.
  5. Thanks 4 the input everybody. I did buy the kit and flame thrower Coil w/ correct ohms required 4 that unit. I don't like cutting corners. U can't save money and do the job correctly! I enjoy driving my old vehicles and working on them. And plan on doing so as long as I can! T.Y.

  10. I have a question on my 217.8 flat head in my 38 D.B. The car sat in a barn for 40+ yrs. Of course the valves were stuck. After I got them all loose n observed the guides I'm kinda scared to remove the guides in the exhaust valves. They r rusted in there pretty bad. Should I let a machine shop remove them before I crack the block ? Or should I heat in there n try to remove them with the threaded rod technique? Pulling them up out of the block. Never worked on a flat head before. The motor has 49,861 original miles.. 3rd owner.. Thanks !!
  11. We just never know what life will bring! We just keep being greasy with our gems. Praying 4 u Man!!
  12. T.Y. I appreciate all help and responses I was a truck mechanic for 30 yrs, but I was frame down mechanic. Suspensions, drive line, alignments n rears only. I do have general knowledge of engines as my dad had a scrap yard when I was young n we had refurbished vehicles. Thanks again!#?
  13. Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. I have a 1938 Dodge D8 touring sedan. 217.8. Flat Head I'm keeping the car all original while doing a light Refurbishing. I'm going to do a top end Rebuild, if anyone can give me tips on a good grind kit to purchase. And any tips on successful top end rebuilds, would be appreciated. The car has 48,961 original miles. But it had some stuck valves. It Sat for a long time in a barn. I never had a Flatty before! Thanks !!
