  1. Tug got some shiny new rear lights today.
  2. Tug now has his new shiny fuel tank installed. Our view from the cab. PS/ Yes, he's completely legal and insured for the road (well apart from the missing stop lights) ?
  3. A bit of metal working this afternoon. Comprising of a tow strap tied to my truck, a car jack, brute Force and a Big F'ing hammer ?. I'm calling it good enough, at least the passenger side headlight will now point in the right direction. Tomorrow's job, fitting the new fuel tank ?
  4. For the registration stickers, it was $128
  5. Tug is very happy today. He got a new title issued, new plates and registration tags.
  6. That's Tugs Net weight of 2,960 pounds, I'd guess with a full tank, that would add another 110 pounds, so my 1953 Truck with a full tank of gas and nothing else loaded, weighs around 3,070 Pounds.
  7. Tug officially got a weight certificate today, he's a mere 2,960 pounds.
  8. I was hoping too, but I didn't get the gas tank and paperwork in time ?
  9. Tug is loaded on to the trailer for a weight check in the morning. Then I can finalize the DMV paperwork and get a new title issued. He did me proud and drove up the ramps and onto the trailer under his own power, good boy Tug.
  10. I woke up Tugs gauges today. The oil pressure, charging amps and water temperature gauges are now fully functional. The fuel gauge will be working when the new fuel tank arrives. ?
  11. Tug has a big day tomorrow, he's going on a flatbed trailer to get weighed. So to make sure he looks good, I drove him out of the garage for a good wash. I used my pressure washer to start to remove some of the primer and get back to some of the original paint. I kinda like the look. Once I have the weight certificate I'll be off to the DMV to finalize his paperwork to get a new title issued.
  12. Works pretty well, you don't damage the new cable other than trimming the barrel crimp at the engine compartment end. At the other end, use your old handbrake adjuster, cut it off at about three inches and use a cable clamp from Lowe's. Pretty pleased, even at the flywheel bracket the Ford F150 outer sheath fits perfectly in the retainer bracket. Best news, it's a brand new cable that you can get from Napa, Amazon or AutoZone.
  13. Found an awesome solution to the emergency brake for my 53 1/2 ton emergency brake cable ( you can't buy a new one anywhere). Go to Napa Auto parts and buy a front handbrake cable for a 2005 Ford F150 (about $50). At the barrel crimp end, trim the barrel down a little with a Dremel. Then you can slot it into the hole on the handbrake shaft, you will also notice that the outer sleeve will fit into the retaining area of the handbrake in the engine compartment perfectly. Then on either side of the retaining area, take you Dremel and cut a shallow slot. That will allow you to use the original retaining clip. On the other end of the handbrake cable, just buy some u shaped cable clamps. And voila a brand new heavy duty emergency handbrake cable....sweet ?
  14. Well the day actually arrived, "Tug" is moving under his own power for the first time in about 20 years ?
