  1. Wow, I’m amazed you guys have these old diagrams and thank you for posting them. I still can’t tell where the spring hooks even with all the photos you guys posted. I think I may need a pic of an actual trucks spring to figure out where it hooks.
  2. Ah! No wonder I couldn’t find a place to hook the spring. They use a long extension piece. Thanks so much for the help Tanda62
  3. Working on a truck that sat in a field for 35+ years with the tranny in the floor board. Trying to reassemble but can’t figure out where the clutch pedal return spring hooks up? With all the bell crank all hooked up properly My clutch pedal falls limp from it’s proper, all the way up position. Is there a spring I’m missing ? A pic would sure help me out. Thanks for any help. Gregg
  4. I have a 54 1/2 ton with 230 flat head and 3 on the column. The truck has been sitting for 35 + years with the transmission laying in the floor board and I’m trying to put it back in with no mounting hardware included and no instructions. Is there some sort of return spring for the emergency brake mechanism? There has to be but again, I can’t figure out where it hooks up . When the lever is pulled something has to plug the cable back in. If anyone has a pic of this spring and where it connects I would sure appreciate it. Thanks, Gregg
  5. Hello, again. About to reinstall a 3 speed trans that has been out of the truck since 1982 and noticed there is what’s left of a gasket between the trans and bell housing and I’m wondering if I really need it? I can’t find a source for one anywhere. Don’t really see what it would do unless it’s being used to space things properly? Truck is a 54 half ton with a 230 flat head. Again , as always, thanks for the help! Gregg
  6. Can anyone please post a pic of where the throttle return spring hooks up? I can’t figure it out for the life of me. I pulled the motor 2 weeks ago and am about to reinstall and can’t figure it out. Thanks for any help.
  7. So I bought a 54 shortbed with I believe a 230 flat head in it that has been sitting since 1982. Cleaned up a few things and filled the carb through the bowl vent and it fired right up and purred. Couldn’t believe it. My problem is, I pulled the water pump off the front of the motor to replace the pump and noticed there was a sheet metal piece inside the larger strangely shaped hole in the front of the block . It was actually in one of the water ports and looked like maybe it was to direct the waters flow or something and it was so rusty it just crumbled. When I touched it. What is this things purpose and do I need it? Where would I ever get another one? Thanks for any help. Gregg
