wow,  ok I have to ask. How much would it cost to get you guys to build me that engine. I dont need the top fuel pistons but would dearly like forged pistons if possible. An overdrive transmission, and clutch, pressure plate and flywheel?  Its obvious the master engine builder isnt getting any younger and I know I am not so how much and when can you fit me in ?  Id even have my car shipped to you guys and just have you guys do it.  Ive seen a lot of flathead sixes built for stock car racing and I have never heard anything like your race car and your plymouth. so talk to me !

Thanks for the compliments and your interest.  I am glad you  took the top fuel pistons and plasma moly rings out, because it is not that I can not get another set, but they are very expensive.    I am not trying to avoid your question, but the best bet would be for you to give us a call.  Ask for George Jr  814-354-2621.  Tell him you were talking to his #3 son.

We have had cars shipped right to the shop, in fact there is a 1951 plymouth just arrived before Christmas.

The exact cost will depend on exactly what you want and what you may or may not have as cores.  I can tell you right now unless you have a good rebuildable 1952-56 plymouth overdrive, we can not fill that piece of the project.  Right now I think we have a waiting list of 4 or 5 guys .  Mine was a 265 ci engine. If you dont have a core to rebuild I do know we have 1 or 2 that could potentially be freed up for a customers project.

The pistons, I know we do not have a set of 120 over forged pistons and I am not sure we have a source other than custom made ones. It those type of details I would like to have discussed so in the end, you get exactly what you were expecting and are a happy customer. 

The last thing I want is for something thinking they were getting an exact copy of my 1949 plymouth engine and later find that is not the case.

You are not wrong in your thinking though. If you want George to build your engine, that window of opportunity is closing as he is moving more from building to supervising. I did just talk to him and  he would  take on another project or two..

Thanks Tim,I had a nice chat with George Asche and I was surprised how little it would cost to do an engine. He definately has me out looking for an OD. But I am on his list for a new engine build. Check is in the mail today!

Man,  Love this thread!  A lot of great information here.  I didn't realize a flathead six could be turned into something like that.  6000RPM?  What did it finally test out at?

Who wants to trade a rebuildable flat six and transmission for a R10G?   Right. 

I've got a spare.  Owner said it ran - that's all I know.
