I once posted a thread about Mopar/Motorola radios...

...from the early `40's (model 601, 602, 801, and 802) that were used in furniture during World War II. I came across one in an antique store once and was amazed to see an 802 in a sofa side table. Well, it turns out that Motorola found this to be a convienant way of getting rid of the huge inventory of radios that had produced for Chrysler products just before automobile production was discontinued. Tonight, I came across a website that shows the same setup I was talking about and goes into detail regarding the use of Motorolas in furniture. The URL is http://oak.cats.ohiou.edu/~postr/bapix/MotChrSd.htm

Very interesting article. I've always said that these old MoPar radios were the best sounding radios on the market. I used one in my repair shop in the early sixties. I set it on the bench hooked to a battery and some old speakers and tuned to the local rock 'n roll station.
