Guest xpebrian Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 need info on how to install rear window on 1950 dodge 5 window 1 ton thanks in advance for any info Quote
Rich Gengo Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Get a buddy and a six pack of beer.Get a new rubber and lube it up. Stick it in the window frame.Get a string and wrap it all around the inside lip leaving a little hanging out. Hold the window to the rubber from the outside and start pulling the string out while pushing the widow in so the window goes in and the rubber lip goes out and it should pop in. Easier said then done depending on the rubber seal but that is basically how it is done. A little push, bang and a few curse words latter you can sit and enjoy the beer! Quote
MBF Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 When I did mine, I put the rear window in the rubber channel, then set the channel on the bottom window edge. I wrapped a string around the circumfrance of the outer channel and used it to walk the inner lip all the way around. Whatever you do-keep even pressure on the glass and push gently. Once the channel is fully installed you can thump the window from the outside with your fist (gently) to make sure the channel is fully seated in the cab. The beer is almost a required tool when doing this type of work-that way if you break the glass you don't get so upset! Mike Quote
jpellican Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Did you use any type of sealer such as 3m weather strip seal on the outer lip of window seal. Quote
MBF Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Nope-just used some armor all to help it slide into place. Mike Quote
