A month or so ago I put 2 barrel on the 251, runs super !! I got an HEI from Tom Langdon and I can't get that thing to run to save life. It doesn't matter where the timing is, it won't hardly come off idle and its not real smooth at idle. I followed the directions to the 'T' and it don't work. It just shakes and studders. I have checked and rechecked everythiing twice. After some reading I think maybe it has too much vac. advance. Stock distributor works great. Has anyone had experience with Langdon's HEI ? Some one said Blueskys has one. I can use help fo sure.

Thanks

My 230 didn't run too well when I installed my HEI until I opened up the sparkplug gap a bunch, then it ran fine. I did have to go back to about 5 degrees initial before it settled down a bit.

I'll retry with a spacer to reduce total vac advance. I'll get back on it in a few days and let you know.

I actually wound up leaving the vaccuum advance alone but putting a tiewrap around the centrifugal advance weight to immobilize them. So I'm now running 5 degrees initial with no centrifugal advance and full vaccuum advance.
