p10plymouth Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 I am upgrading my 40 Plymouth to have a working heater valve ... on a 1941 or 1946 Plymouth what side would the cable come out of the drivers side or passenger side? I have enough new cable to go either side ... But prefer knowing how a 41 or newer car had it... Thanks again.... Quote
Reg Evans Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 I'd like to help but I just sold my 40 Plymouth last weekend. There are a couple of other 40 Plymouth owners here so hang on. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Slightly to the left of center (right as you look at picture) on my 48. About the same place the choke cable comes out. It's the cable in the forefront just under the hoses. Quote
p10plymouth Posted March 14, 2008 Author Report Posted March 14, 2008 Ok..so on the side of the choke cable.... Does your 48 have a heater valve that goes on top of the block towards the pasanger side .....? And does your valve lever when closed is pushed all the way down ....? Thaks again ... Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Yes, the original heater control valve is supposed to be as you describe. However, mine wasn't working in this picture (also the wrong valve), but in the right place. Don't know if you can see the cable too well, think I stuffed it behind the engine before I fixed the control. The top one is the throttle cable. I've since installed an aftermarket valve and the cable is now hooked up the way it's supposed to be. The aftermarked valve is spliced into the hose coming off the heater valve and the cable is now connected there in about the same location as original. Here is a close up of the aftermarket system I have. As you can see the cable is hooked up in about the same location as original. Drivers side of car is to the right as you look at the picture. Valve is on the passengers side of the block in the rear. Quote
