Don, your narrative of the incident is sorta like the first chapter in a Stephen King novel. I like it.

Cellphone is all I use anymore. My landline is hooked to a modem, no phone. But for decent digital photos I like my digital camera. The cellphone camera is just not all that sophisticated. Took me a long time to give up using 35mm film but once I went digital, I saw the light!

Only problem with replacing your land line with a modem hook up is, if you loose electrical power, you also loose your phone.

I have a digital camera and a 35mm Pentex camera. I still like the results of the old 35mm film camera the best for good quality pictures. Also have the cellphone camera now. Actually, it doesn't take bad pictures on the lowest setting. Below is a test picture I made with mine the other day testing it. I'll probably use it if I see an interesting car or something while out. I don't carry the other camera's with me, even when going to a car show.

I can see it now. Norm is driving his P-15 down his driveway checking the moss on the trees to make sure he is going in the right direction (whoops I forget he cut down all the trees on his estate) when suddenly an interesting car or something catches his attention. What to do, what to do?? His cell phone is tucked away deep with in his pants pocket but he cant get to it because the seat belt is in the way (whoops I forget he does not wear seat belts) so he digs deep into his pants pocket only to find that he has reached the end of his driveway and must now get back to driving or at least putting on the brakes so he quits digging deep into his pants pocket to get the cell phone/camera. He finally gets the car stopped and applies the parking brake. He then digs the cell phone/camera out but it is not turned on as he never turns it on unless he wants to use it. As soon as he gets it turned on the cell phone tells him that there are several voice mails in cue and asks if he wants to hear them now. Norm frantically tries to exit the voice mail but every time he tries to do so it erases a voice mail and opens the next in line. After about 5 minutes he finally gets to access the camera part of the cell phone. Of course by now the thing of interest is headed south out of Nashville.

Not to worry Don. Don't need to keep the cell phone in my pocket. I bought a holster that clips on the belt, and I'm very fast on the draw.:P Also, I don't have to worry about voice mail because I did not activate that on my phone, or with the carrier. When I don't answer you get a recording that says I have not set that function up.:P Never fear though, if someone did try to call I can check the number on the caller ID function and call that person when I get home.:P
