Norm's Coupe Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 I was told "Measure twice and cut once." but I usually say "Gee, I dunno! I cut it off three times and it's still too short!" How does one measure and what is measuring? I just lay the spool of wire near the first connection, then pull the wire from the spool to the other connection, then cut the wire from the spool and make the connections. Is that what you call measuring? Quote
Normspeed Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 Well, I unwrapped the old underhood harness after I tagged all the ends, and I kept it in the same configuration as when wrapped, secured with a few little zip ties. I spread it out on a flat surface and cut each wire to match the old one in color, guage and length, and then moved tags from old wires to the new ones. Yeah, that's measuring:) I need to get after my front (lighting) harness, it's disgraceful. Quote
hkestes41 Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 I work for a Japanese electronic connector manufacturer and one of our distributors is DigiKey Electronics out of Thief River Falls, MN. They are a catalog only distributor and have an extensice online catalog. The link below will take you to a section of their catalog listing ring terminals, splices, blade terminals etc. There are several pages, some are insulated some are not. http://digi-key.dirxion.com/Main.asp?leftframe=categorytoc&leftpanel=0 They also have shrink tape, tubing, fabric, labels and many other components and connectors you may find interesting for wiring your car. They will accept credit card orders and on many items have fairly small minimum quantity buys. They sell over $10 million dollars worth of our products per year and we are like their 8th or 9th largest supplier so, they are a stable, reputable company. Quote
