41RogueCoupe Posted September 27 Report Posted September 27 I am looking to install glass in my 41' coupe doors and have the new window run channels. but I can't seem to find any direction on how this installs, even in the D-19 manual. Does it just go in the two channels in the door, or does it go in the one channel closest to the lock assembly then up and around the door and stop at he vent window bar? And then just but a piece in the other channel in the door closest to the latch? (please see illustration picture) I would appreciate and guidance and direction. Are there clips or something that holds the channel run pieces in, do you glue them in? Thanks Quote
Happy 46R Posted September 27 Report Posted September 27 Not sure it will help your situation but there are a couple of videos that may help. One is for old dodge trucks the other for a 41 rebuild. May not have all the answers but might have some. Try https://www.google.com/search?q=1941+dodge+door+window+replacement+p15-D24 for the 41 restoration. Quote
41RogueCoupe Posted October 3 Author Report Posted October 3 Thanks Happy 46R.. this video is not to helpful unfortunately, but I appreciate the post to help. The best I have found is this one: But he does skip steps in showing how certain detail pieces are put in. In this video he does the run channels in each door channel (two pieces) and then a separate piece that goes around the side and top of the door, which he says is held on with clips. I assume like these. Though he never shows putting it all together. I am not sure that is the correct way or not, as the Andy Berndaum site shows the run channels go in an "L" shape all the way down the interior door then bend around the top of the door to the window divider bar. Not sure which is right. It's also not super clear how the window belt line sweeps go in, and you can't see real clear what direction. He says he uses "attaching wires" to install them. I know a lot of people just glue these in using the 3M adhesive. This continued video for the door and glass is great, but again he skips some of the details He does show the L shaped window divider bar fuzzy but hard to see the direction it goes on as there is no up close shot, and says they go on with rivets. I am going to glue mine in. Again what he calls the "anti-rattle strips" are the beltline sweeps and on the door he says they go on with clips. What clips? I have no idea, but Steele has some great videos .. here is one for gluing on the Beltline sweeps. I am hoping to get my door glass, seals, trim and so forth installed correctly and hope this helps others some as I hope others help me Quote
Mezz Posted October 9 Report Posted October 9 So you have some idea of what you're looking for, this is the clip for 49 Chrysler. Plymouth probably used something close to this: Quote
