Wyatt Lawson
I have a 1948 Plymouth Club Coupe, I was going down the road after having the running for the first time in 15 plus years, and the gear shift when it complete gave out and had total free play, I looks under the hood and it looked like the connector rod got disconnected from the transmission linkage, it looks as if it can slide back in but have nothing holding it in, what piece am I missing it from holding it in? plymjim
Don't know exactly where yours came apart but there is a rubber bushing in the mix between the rod attached to the steering column & the rest of the linkage. That's where I'd guess 'cause I've had a few of them give out there. It's the thing almost hidden by the oil filter clamp in the picture. Still available from Andy Bernbaum or Roberts Motor parts I do believe.
Wyatt Lawson
I checked and only about a quarter of the rubber bushing was on the rod. Thank you!
